Creative Phone Booths
飆創意  改造傳統電話亭

While we carry phones in our pockets these days, traditional public phone booths have become outdated and abandoned. However, creative minds around the world are giving old-fashioned phone booths a face-lift. In some cases, they’re even getting a new life.
If you’ve been to London, you have probably posed for a picture with one of London’s famous red phone boxes. In honor of Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 London Olympics, British Telecom started the “BT ArtBox” campaign. They put 80 phone box replicas, transformed by the wild imaginations of artists, all around London.
Walking down the street, you might see a phone booth with a strangely twisted shape. Another may be painted like Big Ben or have a giraffe breaking through the roof, reaching for leaves. A traveling circus phone box has a dancer’s leg sticking out and a drumming monkey on the top. One phone box has been turned on its side and made into something useful--a bright red couch!
All of these phone boxes were auctioned off to raise money for ChildLine, a charity organization. People bid for them on eBay and knew their money was going to a good cause.

現在我們隨身攜帶手機，傳統的公共電話亭已過時不用了。然而，世界各地的創意人士正替舊式的電話亭「整修門面」。某些整修案中的電話亭甚至得到了新生命。

走在倫敦街頭，你可能會看見一座被扭成奇形怪狀的電話亭。另一座電話亭可能被彩繪成像大笨鐘，或是有一隻長頸鹿從電話亭破頂而出要吃樹葉。一座巡迴馬戲團的電話亭有一隻舞者的腳伸了出來，上頭還有一隻打鼓的猴子。有一座電話亭還被側放，搖身變成實用的物品——一張亮紅色的沙發！
這些電話亭已全部被拍賣來為慈善團體ChildLine（編按：一九八六年由伊絲特．蘭珊（Esther Rantzen）在英國廣播公司電視所發起的協助電話，針對十九歲以下的兒童與青少年提供二十四小時的電話諮詢服務。）募款。人們在eBay上出價競標，並且知道他們的錢會用來做善事。
